After forgetting to lower a truck bed, a Fargo Public Works employee crashes into a bridge - INFORUM

FARGO — A Fargo Public Works driver crashed a large truck, sometimes used for snow removal, into a bridge at 40th Avenue South near the I-29 underpass during the afternoon on Feb. 3. The crash caused the Public Works truck's lower bed to be knocked off and land in the street.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. after the truck driver finished dumping snow. When the driver approached the bridge, he forgot to lower the truck's large bed — and it hit the bridge.

The male driver, who is a public works employee, was taken to Essentia Hospital as a precaution but had no serious injuries. The Fargo police report the driver was cited for failure to control their vehicle.

The bridge suffered some visible damage — large chips of concrete were missing after the crash — but a highway engineer confirmed with police both the bridge and road were still safe for vehicles.
