The remains of the final human trafficking victims found in the back of a truck in England have been sent home to Vietnam.
The Vietnam News Agency released photos of 16 bodies and seven urns arriving at the Hanoi airport before they were loaded onto ambulances to be taken to their home provinces.
The 39 men and women were found in the vehicle in the town of Grays, with evidence suggesting they died from asphyxiation, the Associated Press reported.
Bloody handprints were found inside the metal container, and many of the bodies were either naked or partially clothed — some with foam around their mouths.
The remains were taken back to the victims’ home villages, where hundreds gathered into local churches to mourn the dead.
